Types of Breast Augmentation;

1- Saline Filled Implants;
They have an elastomer silicon shell and are filled with salt water. These implants solutions are not frequently used in cosmetic breast augmentations. They have more uses in reconstructive breast surgery.
2- Silicone Implants;
Silicone implants are the most popular material used in breast augmentation worldwide. Since their production started in the 1960’s they have undergone extensive trials and studies and have improved extensively in quality and safety. Incision Types
- Below the breast; most common incision, also called sub mammary or inframammary incision. This lies along the breast fold.
- Along the areola; In women with large nipple areola complex. Not very frequently used.
- Umbilical /Belly button Incision; It is also known as Transumblical breast augmentation (TUBA). This is only used for saline implants.
- Axilla / Armpit incision; It is also rarely used.
Pocket /Placement Types;
- Sub glandular placement; this intender the breast gland and over the muscle. This has a shorter surgery and recovery time.
- Sub muscular; this is under the chest muscle. This is usually done in patients with very less breast tissue envelop, for example after removal of breast in breast cancer treatment.
